Note on State Law Enforcement Agencies
State police agencies exist in some form in all U.S. states
except Hawaii. In Hawaii, the State of Hawaii Sheriff's
Office acts as the state-wide law enforcement agency. In
Alaska, the state police agency is called the "Alaska State
Troopers." Depending upon the structure of the state law,
enforcement agencies in other states may fall under "State
Police," "State Highway Patrol," "State Patrol," "State Bureaus
of Investigation," or "Department of Public Safety." |
